WHO CAN GET IT AND HOW?
Most households can now access a broadband connection through their standard telephone line and an enabled BT Exchange. BT have removed the distance limits for Broadband ADSL services in most areas up to 512kbps and extended the reach for 1Mbps Broadband ADSL services from 3.5km to 6km from the exchange, BT are also upgrading exchanges to allow our "NEW" 8Mbps MAX services. Your line will be checked to see what speed it can handle up to 8Mbps, then you choose, upload speeds of 8Mb Max services are now up to 448kb for home and 832kb for business.
Will all customers be able to get 8Mb speeds on DSL Max products?
According to BT figures published:
42% of UK customers will get a connection speed that is above 6Mb
36% of UK customers will get a connection speed between 4Mb and 6Mb
Remaining UK customers will see speeds of up to 4Mb
Green ISP will provide you with the fastest connection speed, up to 8Mb, that your phone line will reliably support. The actual speed that you get will depend on a number of factors, such as the quality of your phone line and the length of the line between your home and the local phone exchange for example.
Although the connection speed will be set during the 10 day "training" period, the actual speed at which you can download will vary depending on a number of factors some outlined above. Actual download speeds will be no higher than 7150kbps and speed may then be limited by, for example, general congestion on the Internet or a number of heavy broadband users connecting to the same telephone exchange as you. We advise that during peak usage times it is likely that download speeds will be reduced quite a bit (to around 2.5Mbps.

PLANTING TREES FOR NEW MEMBERS
Since December 2004, we have been planting a tree in our designated planting area for every customer who signs up for any of our Broadband Products, on top of our Co2 offset. Each customer who signs up for broadband will receive a personalized certificate of planting.
We work with TreeSponsibility, a Climate Action Group to offset our Carbon by "sequestration" or "Carbon Fix".
WHAT HARDWARE DO I NEED?
We recommend that you use an ADSL Router - You can Purchase one as you sign-up or purchase at your nearest computer store.  Hardware such as the NetGear DG834, or the ones we supply by Zyxel are completely independent of your computer, so is almost certain to be compatible with your operating system version. It also does not put a strain on system resources so you can expect better performance and the bonus of adding more computers too. More information here

EXISTING BROADBAND CUSTOMER WITH ANOTHER ISP?
You can now **migrate in to green ISP from other ISPs FREE** for Unmetered products. For customers who wish to bring their existing broadband connection to us, click here and.you will be asked to check the line and then asked for the **MAC code **(You must get Existing Service Ref MAC Code from your ISP, please click here for more info).
** The internal BT process is changing from "Migration" to what is known as a "Provide with MAC" please note, customers who are moving from an LLU provided circuit (Easynet/Sky, CPW, Bulldog/CW Access e.t.c) will be charged a standard activation fee NOT a migration fee once the process is introduced. Our systems will identify which charging is applicable on signup.

Due to the implementation of the "neutral" network operator Openreach it has been deemed necessary to introduce a ceassation charge for broadband services of £5.88 (in effect from 18/08/07).
