Renewable's could create more jobs than nuclear in Britain, Organizations such as Friends of the Earth agree that the British government and corporate industry should invest more money into wave, tidal and biomass energy, because such support would create far more jobs than the nuclear industry can in the present climate of global change.

Green ISP supports this view, and this is what we are about in essence.

Increased use renewable energy resources could easily help to reduce these emissions by some 45% by 2020 and,if supported in a willful manner, 20% of electricity could come from green sources by 2020.

Emissions of carbon dioxide from energy use must be reduced by 29% by 2010 to meet climate change targets, and this can really only realistically be met by increased use of renewable energy and energy efficiency management.

Reports are now concluding that new nuclear power stations are not needed any more, now renewable technologies are being so well invested in, and the more investment the better the technology gets to tackle global climate change.

British Energy is in a financial disaster and the Government should not waste any more of the taxpayers money on this outdated technology. Instead it must look to the future and invest in clean, safe renewable energy, as a matter of urgency.

Green ISP believes that with the recent power blackouts in the USA and Italy, relying on an antiquated generation and grid system will not do, especially if nothing is done to reduce consumption and increase efficiency.

Investment in new cleaner technologies will not only ensure security of supply and help meet environmental targets, but should be able to ensure economic development, increased efficiency and create jobs.

New and greener industries, given the right environment, can be expected to grow quite rapidly, as the growth in the wind power industry is clearly demonstrating so very well already.

Hopefully the government will not use Co2 Emissions targets as a tool to justify the increase of electricity generation by nuclear power.

Friends of the Earth has reported recently that there is expected to be an increased deployment of renewable technologies thanks to the incentive created by the Renewable Energy Obligation and to a lesser degree the Climate Change Levy.

Landfill gas installations is estimated to provide 700 MW of power, hydropower will add 200 MW of new capacity, and biomass will add around another1,000 MW.

Wind power generation is expected to be much higher than originally expected, with around 18,265 MW of new capacity by 2020, most of this coming from offshore locations.

350 MW of very commercially-competitive wave capacity and 150 MW of tidal by 2010, including plans revealed this year to build a Tidal Station at the Severn Estuary, which will be probably the largest in the world.

Renewable technologies, including off-shore wave generators, tidal stream and tidal lagoon generators are now looking very attractive to investors in energy production and will probably become commercially available by around 2015-2020.

Green ISP believes that diversification into renewable and sustainable energy production is the real future, if the nuclear industry was to rely on real and actual cost of build, operating and dismantling, then who knows how much a unit of electricity would cost. But due to false economy and being heavily subsidized it has been made possible over the last 40 years.

Renewable's cost in real terms far less to build, operate and dismantle than almost all other forms of electricity, and they are Co2 balanced and as non radioactive as possible.
